Popeyes, which currently runs 3,400 restaurants worldwide, said it will open it first UK location by the end of 2021.
US-based fried chicken chain Popeyes will launch it first UK restaurant as part of an ambitious expansion plan to open hundreds of UK locations.
Popeyes, which currently runs 3,400 restaurants worldwide, said it will open it first location by the end of 2021 with a goal of opening 350 UK restaurants over the next decade. This comes following rapid growth across Europe in recent years, which includes the the expansion of its brand into Spain and Switzerland over the past two years. Popeyes said it views the UK as its “next big opportunity” for growth.
“The UK is such an exciting market and we think the authenticity of our brand and product is something customers here want to see,” Elias Diaz Sese, co-founder of Popeyes UK told the PA news agency. “We think we will really benefit the communities we move in to.”
“It’s difficult to say exactly what the scale will be right now, but we are looking to create hundreds of jobs in the restaurants and in the supply chain.”
Popeyes which first launched in in New Orleans in 1972, will open locations in the UK as part of an agreement between Restaurant Brands International, Ring International Holdings and hospitality veteran Mr Sese.
Popeyes — which recently opened in China and Sri Lanka — is looking to mirror its remarkable success in the United States, where it’s been one of the fastest-growing fast food brands, selling over 250 million fried chicken sandwiches in America in just one year.
